Diet Linked To Wellbeing And Stress Reduction

Diet Linked to Wellbeing and Stress Reduction

Mediterranean Diet May Hold the Key to a Healthier Mind

A recent study published in Nature has found that a Mediterranean diet, which is rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, may be linked to improved brain health, cognitive function, and mental wellbeing.

Fruits and Vegetables Key to Reducing Stress

The study, which included over 8,600 participants, found that those who ate at least 470 grams of fruits and vegetables daily had 10% lower stress levels than those who consumed less than 300 grams per day.

Poor Nutrition Linked to Low Mood

The researchers also found that poor nutrition may be a causal factor in the experience of low mood. They discovered that participants who consumed a diet high in processed foods and sugary drinks were more likely to report feelings of depression and anxiety.

Improving Diet Protects Physical and Mental Health

The study suggests that improving diet may help to protect not only physical health but mental health as well.
